An amazing sportsman I met.

I had the great pleasure of attending the Townsville Rugby launch as one of the codes sponsors. And was lucky enough to be seated next to our guest of honour, George Smith, who any sports follower would immediately know as the ex-Wallaby flanker who holds all the records!

• Most capped Wallaby forward ever…played 2000-2009
• Named in Team of the Decade…only 1 of 3 players named still playing
• Signed first Super Rugby contract 2000 at age of just over 19, 3rd youngest ever
• Super Rugby Player of the Year 2006-2009
• Numerous other awards over his long career

​George, I found out, is also a great family man with wife Louise and three children, being the main reason he returned from overseas, to now and playing in Super Rugby 2017-2018 for the Queensland Reds.

Amazingly, should he go on to play 2019, that will be 20 years at Super Rugby level.
This is such a high achievement in sporting record,  skill, toughness & longevity.
